It is important to order the correct coating for aluminum sliding doors. The best treatment to apply depends on the location/environment in which the frame is placed. You have two choices here: coast/industry and standard .
Surface treatment
There is a difference in the surface treatment between the two choices. The aluminum frames are anodised, which means that the aluminum frames are provided with an oxide layer. This oxide layer ensures that the frame is sealed and is corrosion resistant. The pre-treatment is therefore very important for the protection of your window frame.
In a standard treatment an anodization of 20 mu is applied. When choosing coast/industry, the anodization layer consists of 25 mu. The extra thick layer provides improved protection.
Coast/industry
When the aluminum frame is placed near the coast or industry, you can choose to have the coating connect to it. The material receives a different treatment that protects it from the environment. You apply the coating for the coast/industry in the following situations:
- Up to 1 km from the coastline (due to salt);
- Up to 1 km from an industrial area with heavy industry (due to chemical emissions);
- The frame comes into direct contact with swimming water (due to chlorine).
Does one of the above situations apply to the area around the frame? Then choose the coastal or industrial treatment when ordering your window frame. Because your frame is better protected against corrosion, your frame will last longer.
