Triple glass frames
Are you going to replace your windows ? Then you will probably also think about the glass you want to put in it. At Toelevering Online you can choose from frames with double glazing (HR++) and triple glazing (HR+++). Triple glazing is a development of recent years and has been specially developed for extra insulation. This allows you to keep the heat in your home in the winter and lower your gas bill. In the summer it ensures that it stays cooler in the house. Would you like to know more about frames with triple glazing, the benefits and subsidy? Read on quick!
Wat is triple glas (HR+++)?
Triple glass (HR+++), the name says it all, is high-performance glass with three glass plates. Triple glass is also called HR+++ glass. There are cavities with stagnant air or inert gas between the three plates, so that the cold air from outside cannot be passed on to the inside and vice versa, the heat from inside does not go outside. Due to these extra layers, the window has a high efficiency with a low U-value (the amount of heat loss per square meter: the lower this value is, the better).
Quality marks and standards Gealan, K-Vision & Schüco
HR++ double glass and HR+++ triple glass differ in that Triple glass has an extra glass plate and is therefore thicker and heavier. As a result, there are considerable differences in the insulation value. See the differences in insulation value and structure below in a clear table:
Double glazing (HR++) | Build-up glass | U value |
|---|---|---|
Standard HR++ glass | 4/16/4 | 1.1 |
1-sided laminated HR++ glass | 4/18/33.1 | 1.1 |
2-sided laminated HR++ glass | 33.1/16/33.1 | 1.1 |
Triple glas (HR+++) | Build-up glass | U value |
|---|---|---|
Standard HR+++ glass | 4/18/4/18/4 | 0.5
|
1-sided laminated HR+++ glass | 4/18/4/15/33.1 | 0.6
|
2-sided laminated HR+++ glass | 33.1/16/4/15/33.1 | 0.6
|
The values may differ slightly based on the chosen frame profile. Want to know what is the application? Then consult the product information .
The advantages of triple glazing
Windows with triple glazing are only available for a few years. It goes without saying that extra material is needed for windows and doors with triple glazing and the costs are higher than if you purchase double glazing. Fortunately, the advantages, especially in combination with insulating frames, outweigh this:
- Thanks to the extra glass plate and cavity space, triple glazing insulates twice as well as double glazing. If you look at the U-value, you will see that it is 0.5 or 0.6 with triple glazing and 1.1 with double glazing. As a result, you have less heating costs in the winter, you emit less CO2 and it stays nice and cool in the summer.
- Windows with triple glazing provide more living comfort . Not only does the temperature remain pleasant in both winter and summer, you also suffer less from cold. In the event of a cold downdraught, warm air cools down at large windows and falls down, creating a draft current across the floor.
- Triple glazing also provides extra sound insulation . Thanks to the third glass plate, sound waves from the outside are more muted and you can enjoy the peace in your home. And vice versa, the neighbors are less bothered by your party.
- The subsidy on frames with triple glazing is almost three times higher than the subsidy on double glazing. As a result, you end up paying about the same amount.
Subsidies on triple glazing and window frames
Replacing your windows and doors with insulating frames with triple glazing is associated with the necessary costs. The government helps homeowners to become more sustainable and provides subsidies for the measures you have implemented. For example, you will receive € 150.00 per m2 of triple glass back from the subsidy.
There are, however, a number of conditions attached. For example, you must take at least two different insulating and/or energy-saving measures and the frames and glass you choose must have the correct U-value. If you opt for triple HR+++ glass, it is a requirement that you place them in insulating frames. You can read exactly how this works and how to apply for the subsidy in our knowledge base .
Can I install triple glazing in my existing frames?
Triple glass has an extra layer of glass and a cavity in the glass. As a result, triple glazing is logically thicker and heavier than double glazing. Due to the thickness of the glass and the weight, triple glazing does not always fit into existing frames. In many cases you will therefore have to replace the frames if you opt for triple glazing.
In some cases it is possible to replace only the glass. It is best to call in a specialist for this.
Frames suitable for triple glazing
In our range you will find frames made of wood, plastic and aluminum. Almost all our frames can be supplied with triple HR+++ glass, with an exception when rods are incorporated in the glass. You also have the choice of safety glass. You choose whether you want one-sided or two-sided laminated safety glass for your triple glass frames.
In our range of wooden frames you can choose from different frame profiles, including hardwood and sustainable coniferous wood. With our plastic frames you will also find various high-quality frame profiles from K-VISION and Gealan, among others.
The aluminum frames are of high quality and can also be combined with triple glazing. We offer you the choice of window profiles from Reynaers, among others.
