Install aluminum frames
When building or renovating a home, aluminum frames are increasingly being chosen . Logical, because the benefits are great. These frames are low-maintenance and you don't have to work with a paint brush every few years. In addition, aluminum does not absorb moisture and the profile does not attract dirt. Aluminum frames are mounted slightly differently than wooden or plastic frames. In this blog you can read tips to make the installation go smoothly. These tips are intended for installation by means of an adjustable frame.
Step 1: remove glazing bars
Before you start assembling your aluminum frame, remove the glass from the fixed parts of the frame. This way you can access the pre-drilled holes that are processed behind the glass.
You can remove glass as follows:
- First remove the rubber seal between the glass and the glazing bead. Start in one corner of the glass compartment. Use a small flat screwdriver to get started and then you can take out the entire rubber seal around it;
- Then remove the glazing bars. You do this by tilting a glazing bar in the direction of the glass. The glazing bar then ‘clicks’ out of the frame profile.
Note: The glass is loose in the rebate after removing the rubber and glazing beads. So hold the glass back when removing the glazing bars.
Step 2: Assemble the frame
When determining the frame dimensions, take into account that the stop of the SL38 is 13.5 mm and that of the CS77 and CP130 is 25 mm. Look at the details for the exact dimensions of our frames.
Now that you have removed the glass you can install the frame. Pull the frame against the adjustable frame so that it connects seamlessly and watertight to the construction. Screw the aluminum frame to the pre-drilled holes on the frame. We recommend using screws with a thickness of 7.5 mm. These screws are not included.
Step 3: Finish the frame
Now that you have mounted the frame, fill the space between the adjustable frame and the new aluminum frame with polyurethane foam. This ensures a well-insulated connection. After curing of the pur, the inside can be finished.
